Is Self better significantly better optimized for x86 or PPC? Would a 3Ghz x86 likely make a better Self platform than a dual 1.4Ghz PPC?
Just curious, Steve "Statically typed languages are like American sports cars. They go fast, but only in a straight line"

"Dual" doesn't help, so I would go with the 3GHz system. Having enough memory is really important. I'll run some benchmarks later this week and post the numbers here (I have a 600MHz Pentium II, a 600MHz PPC G3 and a 270MHz Ultra II Sparc).

We expect to release a new version of the VM soon with good performance for the PPC.
