It's already been mentioned here a couple of times, but we thought we ought to announce it officially: Self 4.2.1 has just been released, and you can get it from Sun's Self website:
This is a pretty minor release. The main purpose was to get out a bunch of bug fixes for the VM; Self runs under Mac OS 10.3 (Panther) now. Also, Dave resurrected the Self source-level profiler, support has been added for compiling the VM under GCC 3.3, and there have been a bunch of small fixes and additions and enhancements.

Suggestion: posting Self release notices on freshmeat.com might be helpful in getting more people to try it out.
