If there is any interest there is a self discord (chat) at https://discord.gg/KHFMGdvmnG
It is not ‘official’ in any way, anyone/everyone is welcome.
Apart from chat it also has integrated screen sharing. It *is* a ‘walled garden’. It is free.
If you are not familiar with discord, it is a chat service like IRC, with a UI that is almost identical to slack. It is particularly popular with young people.
It might also be of interest that Pharo also has a discord at https://discord.gg/zKEP4tNz
Best regards
Stephen
Consider using jitsi. No reg, open source, voice, video, chat, screen sharing. Try it out at https://meet.jit.si web and app clients available.

This is a very good suggestion, but like Zoom you need something other than Jitsi to organize meetings.
The California Smalltalkers have meetings using 8x8 which is built on top of Jitsi technology.

Thanks for the invitation.

Here is the link for a Squeak discord - https://discord.gg/YfDMH2zH
and for a Squeak Reunion discord created by Göran Krampe - https://discord.gg/FnMjp7b3
I see that these links are only valid for 7 days, so anyone finding this email a bit later should do their own search in discord instead.

Thank you!
I just realised I wrote ‘the point of discord is that it is popular.’ When responding to the suggestion about Jitsi. (which I fully support)
I meant to write ‘the point of discord is that it is popular with young people.’ It is a popular platform. The Pharo discord has thousands of members.
So my apologies - it was pretty rude - but not intentional.
The good news is the squeak and Pharo discords let me post the self discords on their servers. I also posted it on r/smalltalk on Reddit.
