Yes, Helvetica, Times and Courier should be found as bitmap fonts on
every System in various sizes. Their more abstract names are sans-serif,
serif and fixed. Their TrueType equivalents are Arial, Times New Roman
and Courier New in the Microsoft universe.

I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 with additional Microsoft Core Fonts
(Arial...Verdana) and lots of free TrueType fonts for some graphic
design purposes.

I attached a screenshot to show you how good Helvetica looks on Ubuntu.
