I had the same problem too. If you log in to KDE instead (or anything but GNOME) it works fine.

      Hi Russell
this is great! we have been using and showing self for more than a decade now at the University of Buenos Aires and seeing this progress is great... also, having the Smalltalk implementation in the Demo.snap is wonderful for teaching, those are the things that blows student minds!

BTW, in my Linux machine, the keyboard is not working... I have Ubuntu 9.10 64 bits. For example, in an outliner of the Shell, if I press some letters nothing happens, if I press s, it saves an snapshot, if I press n, it show "senders of nothing"...., it sounds it is not taking focus, is this a known bug or should I configure something to make it work correctly?

      Hi guys,
I've released Self 4.4 Beta 1.
Download VM installers for MacOS X and Linux and Clean and Demo snapshots from: http://selflanguage .org/download/

Barring minor fixes, I will reissue this release as Self 4.4 at the start of April.  The proper description of Self 4.4 is a revived Self running on Mac OS X and Linux x86 and ready as a base for new functionality.

Self 4.4 will be the first Self release since Self 4.3 which was released in June 2006.  In future we will attempt a slightly faster turnaround :)
Please post bugs to the Self bugtracker at http://self. lighthouseapp. com and to this mailing list.

Cheers,
Russell
