I worked on this a bit back in 1993, but it was a from scratch
implementation rather than a port. I didn't get very far before I
switched to another project, so there are only a few simple code
fragments as the result.

About the iPad, wouldn't only jailbroken devices be able to run Self?
Based on how Apple has treated Squeak, there is no way they would allow
Self in their app store. Of course, several similar devices, many based
on the ARM, are about to become available which won't have this kind of
restriction. I don't expect any of them to become more popular than the
Tablet style devices we have seen since the early 1990s, however.
