I'd say UI3 was a short-lived diversion that got nowhere near being a  
Croquet like thing. We did have Self objects that could appear as  
boxes on the screen. You could also press a "go meta" button in which  
case you retreat slowly "out of body" and you'd see the frame you  
were looking through, plus a small box at your former eye point.

You could then move the eye point around (push it closer to the  
frame, for example) then go un-meta to resume the view, (which would  
in the example be a much more wide angle view through the frame). You  
could go meta an unbounded number of times, leaving a chain of  
eyepoints and frames laying there in front of you.

But as I recall, that was about as far as we got...
