On Mac OS X 10.3.7, is /usr/X11R6 required for Self 4.2.1?

Did this ever get addressed around /usr/X11R6?
I run OS X 10.3.7, downloaded Self 4.2.1 from April 2004, and draged the Demo.snap to
SelfDroplet and got the error:
Self.app/Contents/MacOS/Self can't open library: /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.6.dylib (No such
file or directory, errno = 2)
Thoughts?
