I can't reproduce the problem here (setting 'amIATypingFocusFor:' 
permanently to false doesn't make it beep, just reject key events) so I 
will try it on an iBook when I get home. When you click on a text field 
it should become a slightly lighter tone of grey to indicate that it 
has the keyboard focus.
