Why did Sun stop development of Self ?

Hi everybody,

about a couple of weeks ago I started reading papers about Self. I got 
very excited about the classless OO paradigma behind Self. Now I ask 
myself why the development stopped, at least officially as a Sun 
project - so it seems to me.
I did'nt find an answer on the sun pages. The list of members of this 
egroup (and of course postings) shows that there are a lot of people 
that have been involved in the development of the language at sun. Do 
you have an answer to this question ?
