Did this ever get addressed around /usr/X11R6?
I run OS X 10.3.7, downloaded Self 4.2.1 from April 2004, and draged the Demo.snap to SelfDroplet and got the error:
Self.app/Contents/MacOS/Self can't open library: /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.6.dylib (No such file or directory, errno = 2)
Thoughts? John Blue innovationcreation@yahoo.com

I tried it yesterday on a eMac but didn't even get as far as you did because it complained about a missing X11 library. Indeed, that machine doesn't even have a /usr/X11R6 directory. Is this supposed to be included in a standard Panther installation?
Version 4.2 runs just fine on that computer, so this requirement seems to have been added in version 4.2.1.

answered myself; standard Mac OS X 10.3.7 install does not install X11, To install, goto Apple site: http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/x11/
and download / install package. The install is semi automatic with a few clicks on "i agree". Reboot, and Self 4.2.1 dragged Demo.snap to SelfDroplet works.
Hope this helps, John
